Patrick M. Gibbs
Patrick completed his Master's studies in the Adaptive Evolution lab, developing genomic prediction methods with a focus on Arabidopsis thaliana. In this work, he investigated how different genomic prediction models suit traits depending on their genetic architecture and evolutionary histories, now published in GENETICS. After graduating, Patrick completed a research internship at Aarhus University supervised by Prof. Doug Speed, focusing on polygenic risk prediction in humans, and then worked as a research assistant at the Saint Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research, developing eQTL study methods with Dr. Davis McCarthy and Dr. Irene Gallego-Romero. He is now pursuing a PhD at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Prof. Michael Inouye and Prof. Angela Wood, where he is developing machine learning approaches to predict disease and health trajectories from electronic health records and genomic data.
